In my previous post, They Told You that There is no Job? Lie!, I pointed out that the claim that there is no job is a fallacy which you should not subscribe to. I equally emphasized that instead of believing and living the lie that there is no job, you should get properly positioned for your dream job.
I promised to share with you crucial HR TRAINING and CERTIFICATIONS you need to become the desire of your employer and it’s that promise I want to keep in this post.
Before that, I want to remind like what I said in earlier post that unlike the days of our fathers where there are more jobs than available laborers, more people need jobs than available white collar jobs and that’s why employers are more selective in choosing their staff.
Your key to success is to possess what they want their staff to have even before you become one so that whenever you get a chance to sit before a recruitment panel, you will stand out very clearly.
Now, these are HR trainings that will increase your chance of in today’s competitive job market.
1. Health Safety and Environment (HSE)
It has become increasingly necessary that employers of labour in hazard prone fields require that those interested in such jobs are armed with the knowledge of health and safety so that they won’t expose themselves, their coworkers or workplace to dangers.
This is even more expedient in science, technology and engineering filed where chances of work-environment related hazard is high.
Employers of labour generally train their staff on the rudiments of HSE as a means of ensuring their safety. If you acquire the training before applying for job, you position yourself ahead of competition to get employed.
2. Human Resource Management (HRM)
Human Resource Management involves managing the personnel in an organization for the best results. Most job seekers think that this is for the top guns and so neglect getting this crucial training; but that’s not correct.
This is a very important thing about Human Resource Management: it’s not just for those in the HR Department; it’s for everyone that has been assigned to work with a team as a leader.
HRM training prepares you to manage different people under you at every point to achieve a set goal.
Having this training and necessary certification before job application positions you as a person with leadership and managerial qualities. This naturally gives you an edge before your contemporaries who are simply qualified in their field of study without extra managerial training and certification.
3. Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
Customer Relationship Management is a crucial part of business development and growth and anyone who desires to build a thriving business pays attention to it.
Business owners now know that maintaining a mutually beneficial relationship with customers is not the exclusive job of the Customer Service Department; but everyone in the company. That’s why they spend money in companywide training of their staff.
When you have this training before being hired, you are better positioned before your employer as more valuable staff than many others that don’t have it. In essence, it gives you and edge.
4. Project Management Professional
When you get hired, you will be required to execute some projects—big and small—and your employer or supervisor requires that you do an excellent job. When such demand is placed on you, the question is not whether you did a course on that as an undergraduate or not. You are simply required to deliver results because you have work to do for your employer.
Employers would want to hire someone who has been trained to in project management; not one who is doing trial and error. That’s why you need to take this course as it prepares you with what is involved in successful project planning, execution and evaluation.
Having highlighted these training, I need you to bear in mind that they may not be the core of your course; but they are the additions that make you stand out in a highly competitive job market.
